Thinking of swapping to NETGEAR
Hi there, I have now lost the will to live with my very old synology 2 bay NAS, having spent 5 hours trying to connect back to the internet after a firmware upgrade. It is a great thing when it work...
While those drives would work, you are risking a lot with older desktop grade drives like that. The NAS will re-format them, but it works better if you delete all partitions from them first.
I don't know what you currently use as a backup, but getting a new NAS with new drives and relegating the old one to backup service is something to consider.
