Turn off EDA-500

Does anyone know how to safely turn off the eda-500? I want use it occasionally and don't want it powering on every time i turn on my rn-312 unit it's connected to. There is a small power button on the front of the eda500 but no mention of using it in the manual. Manual also says to unmount the volume before turning it off (excessive?) and that it can be turned off within the web interface but I can't find it.

Only thing I can think of is to shut down the whole system via web, disconnect esata so it does not power on when the rn312 turns on.

Any thoughts? Thanks

  • The EDA500 is not intended to be turned on and off during operation of the main NAS.  The OS partition RAID includes the drives  from the EDA, so that would have to re-sync every time you powered the EDA on.  In addition, the NAS will complain about the missing volume.

If you wanted storage that could be connected and disconnected, you should have gone with USB.
