UPS monitoring: problem running NUT client on ReadyNAS NV+

Our office setup includes a new (late 2012) Mac Mini Server running Mavericks and a ReadyNAS NV+ (sparc) running RAIDiator 4.1.13.

The Mac is constantly on, while the NV+ during office hours only. Since both units are on the same UPS (APC Back-UPS 700), we need to reverse the UPS monitoring scheme: run the NUT server on the Mac and the NUT client on the NV+.

In this frame, we installed and configured NUT Server v2.7.1 on the Mac Mini. The NV+'s older native NUT client (v2.0.5) seems to connect to and (most of the time) exchange information successfully with the newer NUT server. However, on Frontview we get an amber UPS "light" and the "out-of-spec" comment.

During a real test of the configuration, the Mac did shut down as expected when the battery reached the programmed percentage, but the NV+ did not. We wonder if we could get the NV+ to behave better if we could somehow upgrade NUT on the NV+.

We'd highly appreciate any ideas on the subject.
