UPS recommendations for RN31600 and a server with iSCSI?

Daisy chaining them is typically frowned upon, from what I've read. I suppose waiting for UPS A to die off before UPS B goes into power protection and shuts down the NAS would work because it will ensure that the server is off (hopefully from the shutdown command) before the NAS initiates the shutdown on B.
I know it's easier said than done, but I was hoping there would be something where the server broadcast "I'm shutting down" and the NAS would monitor for the iSCSI to disconnect and then shut down itself. I'm aware that I am overthinking it when there is a generator on site, but I'd just like to eliminate as many chances for corruption as possible.
