Courtier - the NAS will not recognize all UPS devices. That being said, most of the APC devices are. However, you have installed an ap9630 network remote management adapter. I would removed the card and see if your cable will work properly with the NV+ when plugged into the RJ45 port near the top of the SMT1500 labeled UPS monitoring port.
Granted, I have a consumer grade APC Backups NS1250 (BN1250LCD), but all I had to do was plug the supplied cable with RJ45 at one end and USB A connector at the other end into the RJ45 slot on the UPS and one USB port on my NVX and go through the setup on the NVX. As a test, I pulled the USB end out of my NVX and inserted it into one USB port of my NV+. The NV+ now shows in RAIDar a green dot on the NV+ line under the UPS Battery Icon, and in Frontview states that "This device is physically monitoring a UPS". The default shutdown selection is "auto".
The network managment card may be designed to work with a special application as the device comes with a CD as well as a manual. From perusing the manual on line, it appears that the card does what the ReadyNAS is already configured to do, ie: monitory the UPS and when the battery reaches a certain level, shut down the NAS. However, it appears that the card is designed to be used with a computer or full server, not an NAS. If the above works, hopefully you can return the card as it appears to be a heafty investment.
