Volume Creation
I installed 2 new 4 GB hard drives 24 hours ago. The volume creation is still going on. It says it is only 16% complete, and it is going to take over 128 hours to finish. Why is this?
Actually, I misstated my query. The volume is syncing. And now, even though it is less than 10 minutes since my original post, the time remaining now shows 121 hours.
The time estimates are off (it won't take nearly that long unless there is a problem with the disks). But even though the volume is near-empty, every sector of the two disks still needs to be mirrored, and that will take a while.
It syncs faster if you don't access the NAS while the array is being built.
Like I said, it's already taken over 24 hours and it's only 16.6% (now) complete. Anyway, I will disconnect and wait patiently. Thanks.
Try downloading the log zip file from the web ui, and look at the SMART stats in disk_info.log
It does seem like a very long time to sync. Could easily be a bad disk in the mix.
Download the logs via the GUI and retrieve the disk_info.log. You can attach it to the thread (removing serial numbers) and we can take a look or you are welcome to PM me that log file and I can examine it for you.
