Hi all,
I own 2 WD1002FBYS drives. They are used in a Windows 2008 server, with an Adaptec Raid 1430SA Controller.
I have the same noise.
Also found this post:

where a Mac user is complaining about this sound.
So, it seems it's not just a Netgear problem.
