Windows libraries
It looks like Windows 7 only supports Windows file shares for libraries. How do people add new libraries using the Readynas?

- ReadySECUREApprenticeAdding libraries (as they are with Windows 7) to the ReadyNAS would need to be performed on the back end; creating symlinks.

Yes. If you attempt to do this without the symbolic link (for instance by including \\NASNAME\music in the Music library directly), Windows will error with a "directory not indexed" message. The work-around is
1. Create a base folder on your hard drive for shares you want in a library i.e. c:\share
2. Create another folder in the above share. i.e. c:\share\music
3a Link an existing library to this folder. i.e Right-click on the Music library, select properties and choose "include a folder" Enter c:\share\music
or
3b Create a new library, which includes the folder. i.e. create a "NAS" library in the Libraries folder. Navigate into it and click on "include a folder". Enter c:\share\music
4. Delete the folder i.e. c:\share\music
5. Use mklink in an elevated command prompt to make a symbolic link in c:\share that matches the original folder name. I.e. right-click on CMD and run it as administrator. Enter mklink /d c:\share\music \\NASNAME\music on the command line - boblamAspirantThank you for the replies. While these are great workarounds, they are not very end-user friendly.
I've not tried this, but has anyone added a Windows file server (maybe in a vm) so that this would work for the end user as designed? - onimodAspirantboblam
there is a GUI based tool called "Win7 Library Tool"
It's no longer available from the developer but it is "out there in the wild".
