Application Initialization error

When I start ReadyNAS Remote I get error message "Application Initialization error" with buttons "Resatr Application" or "Quit".
I have tried the following:
* Reinstall the program.
* XP computer at work (behind firewall)
* Vista computer at work (behind firewall)
* Vista computer using 3G-modem (not using firewall at work)
* Running application as administrator on Vista computer using 3G-modem
I have created a ReadyNAS Remote account. When I tell the application to send my userid I actually get 2 user IDs connected to the same e-mail adress, is this a problem? (Only 1 of these IDs are allowed access to the disk, but I never get this far).
If I move the mouse over the icon it says "ReadyNas Remote (Offline) - Registering mode..."
I do have access to internet. On my portable Vista computer I have turned off both the Windows firewall and McAfee firewall, still it fails in Step 1 on this page: http://www.readynas.com/?p=1435
I never get to login state:

  • Hello,

I have a Readynas Ultra with latest firmware and latest Windows 7 Remote Client but after starting the client it says "Initialization failed; error code 3". The leaf networks adapter is "activated" and I see no errors. The NAS is correctly found with Raidar. I have installed the remote-Addon, have registered with a correct user on the readynas remote server and from NAS side everything should be finde.

Which drivers are not loaded on client side and is there a solution yet? I always start the client with administrator privileges.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks and regards

  • I found a "work around"

    Im running win7 ult. 64bit
I tried the readynas remote and the leaf network installs but none of them worked (kept getting the initialization error).

So I was talking to a friend when he mentioned virtualbox.

So i have virtualbox(free) running xp pro, ran the readynas remote and it works fine!

So if you don't want to dual boot just run virtual box, make an xp pro virtual machine and install ready nas.

You can set up a folder that shares files between your virtual box and your real OS.

    Windows 7:
    Let's try to do this:
    Find in system register,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters

    and
    1) increase current value for 1
    2) reinstall ReadyNasRemote client.
  • Hello,
I am on a Windows7 PC and never get past the error code -3 on start up. I do not get a chance to enter user name or password. I was talking with support, and we tried the un-install re install, using leaf netowrks direct as well as readynas..but nothing has gotten me past the -3 startup error. any suggestions?

So I installed the same software on a second Windows7 PC, and it runs. Log in with user name password works. I have tried all the hints in the previous posts, but cannot get the Remote to run on the PC i need it to run on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
