How to automate HDParm tweak?
Hi,
I've fitted a couple of Seagate ST32000542AS in my NV+ and they work fine. The only problem was the annoying clicking sound they made every so often. After some Googling I've fixed that too, after enbabling SSH and root access I SSHed to the NV+ and, as root, ran:
hdparm -B 254 /dev/hdc
hdparm -B 254 /dev/hde
And that shut them up perfectly :D
However, I understand this tweak won't survive a restart, so what's the right place to add those lines so they're run at startup in the ReadyNAS? I assume they'll need to be run again as root, does that complicate things?
Thanks!

- mindmoverAspirantThanks a lot! I totaly overlooked those exclamation points. After changing the line and a cold restart it works fine.
Now my drives will live for 3+ years instead of 3 months:) - dsm1212ApprenticeFor future reference, an addon is really overkill. If you already have ssh access, then /etc/hdparm.conf should work for this unless netgear has done something odd. Google "man hdparm.conf".
