How to install no-ip on ReadyNAS Duo

Hi everyone

I am wanting to use the service that no-ip supply for dynamic dns updates, it's free and does the job I need. However I am a little short on knowledge of installing programs onto linux systems and I would like to install the no-ip service onto my Duo box. I have read another thread about it but I would like some guidelines to install the package please. Any help is appreciated. I have SSH enabled and working and I have some but little knowledge of linux systems.

The source code and stuff can be found here: http://www.no-ip.com/downloads.php?page=linux
Direct link: http://www.no-ip.com/client/linux/noip-duc-linux.tar.gz

I suppose the main thing I am asking for is guidance on installing packages but specifically this package in mind, I know they can be different from package to package and system to system.

Thanks in advance

  • Never mind I got it sorted.

Installed apt and got updates and a few packages, sorted it out.

    Installed the APT addon: http://www.readynas.com/index.php?s=debian

Then done the following via ssh:

    # apt-get update
    # apt-get install libc6-dev
    # apt-get install gcc
    # apt-get install gdb
    # apt-get install libtag1-dev
    # apt-get install uuid-dev

Could then do "make" "make install"

    :D
