- BertRittoAspirantHi,
Just got a ReadyNAS Ultra 6, new to the forum.
I can successfully install transmission and able to turn it on and off just fine.
But once I change the default download/incomplete and source directories that are on another share other than media in settings.json, I get an error "Transmission service failed to start."
The directories are valid and I've double/tripple checked that it's all accurate including case sensitive letters.
Any ideas?
Thanks. - AsgorathAspirantI also have the problem that Transmission is turned off after the NAS reboots itself. I also noticed any downloaded file remains stuck in the incomplete folder. So perhaps this is a problem with the setting of the download folder. I however have no idea what it 'wants' from me. I really don't want the files it downloads to end up in the Transmission/Downloads folder but in the Default Videos folder/share (or really Videos/Downloads). I have a ReadyNas 312.
The problem seems there is no way to actually check if the path you entered is correct? So this seems endless trial and error. Does anybody perhaps know what the correct path to the Videos share would be to enter in Transmission? - On my Duo, I could turn the Transmission app on and off via a URL - I think it was as follows;
https://192.168.1.2/TRANSMISSIONBT/TRAN ... ED=checked
Any ideas on whether this is possible on my RN312 - have unsuccessfully tried a few changes.
This would alleviate the no-start-on-reboot pain somewhat. - BoggaAspirantGahhh I can build a computer blindfolded... but I don't know how the hell I'm going to learn this NAS-thing on my own
I want this Transmission thing to work... I've opened ports on my router and Transmission tells me it's open. So far so good... right? But when I click "open torrent" and choose the torrentfile I've just downloaded the movie I've chosen appears, but it wont start. Back in windows and utorrent it starts almost immediately and maxes my bandwidth.
What can I be doing wrong? Is there perhaps some obvious setting that I must've missed?
I've got a RN 104, latest firmware 6.1.6 and Transmission 2.82
Please help a noob - Can someone help me?
I am looking for a script that will send me an email and/or send a prowl notification when torrents finish.
I have tried lots of different scripts and I can't get them to work.
This is my code from the settings.json"script-torrent-done-enabled": true,
"script-torrent-done-filename": “/data/Transmission/config/transmission_complete.sh”,
This was the script code I was trying to use, but I wasn't working.#!/bin/sh
/bin/curl -k -F apikey=[your Prowl API key here] -F application=Transmission -F event="Download Complete" -F description="$TR_TORRENT_NAME completed on $TR_TIME_LOCALTIME" https://api.prowlapp.com/publicapi/add
and also this one#!/bin/sh
/opt/bin/curl -k https://prowl.weks.net/publicapi/add -F apikey=[replace with your growl API key] -F priority=-1 -F application="Transmission" -F description="$TR_TORRENT_NAME completed on $TR_TIME_LOCALTIME"
And this one:#!/bin/sh
curl -k https://prowl.weks.net/publicapi/add -F apikey=[replace with your growl API key] -F priority=-1 -F application="Transmission" -F description="$TR_TORRENT_NAME completed on $TR_TIME_LOCALTIME"
# /bin/curl -k -F apikey=[your Prowl API key here] -F application=Transmission -F event="Download Complete" -F description="$TR_TORRENT_NAME completed on $TR_TIME_LOCALTIME" https://api.prowlapp.com/publicapi/add
I did see this post by the master (super-poussin), wondering if that still works, because the new R6 doesn't have the addons-config folder.

Another question if anybody knows, how do I change the web client skin on transmission readynas, I have new skin files, I want to backup the old ones, but I cant find them.
I can use SSH.
Please help a noob out. - SootchuckerAspirantSorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer. I'm a complete noob to all this networking lark, so really don't understand networking speak, so if someone is kind enough to answer my query, would they do so in a way that someone like me could understand please.
Right my system. At home I have a Readynas NV2+ 4 bay Nas, running Transmission (V2.71-arm-0.5.0). When I am at home, any of my computers (my Desktop Windows 7 PC connected by Lan to the network switch), and my wireless Windows 7 Laptops and my 13" Macbook Pro can all connect to the Nas (which is connected via Cat5 cable to a gigabit network switch, which is also connected to my Virginmedia fibre optics modem / router.) Using an IP address I can access the transmission page from my Nas and add / delete torrents as I see fit. All works fine.
However, when I am at work, whilst I can still see the Nas using ReadyNas Remote, view the web admin page, and browse the shares, however, when I click on the Transmission App on the home page, then select "Access Tranmission's Web Interface", I get an error (shown below) and can't go any further. I think it's something to do with permissions and IP addresses but don't really understand what I need to change (i.e. is it on my Virginmedia Router, in the settings/json script etc. Can anyone help please ?

Transmission Error
tranmission error - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIs port 9099 forwarded to the NAS in your Virginmedia router?
If so, use http://www.canyouseeme.org/ (while at home) to see if your ISP is allowing that port.
Your company also might not be allowing this connection, so if you can try it from a public hotspot or a friend's house, that might help diagnose it.
It looks from the error that transmission itself might be limiting access to specific IP addresses (that is what a "whitelist" does). I don't use transmission, so I'm not familiar with the details of its settings. However, it is still useful to confirm that the port you are using is open. - etonLuminary

Checklist:- In router settings - Reserve IP for NAS.
- In router settings - Forward your Transmission port to the NAS IP you reserved in step 1.
- In router settings - Forward all necessary torrent ports to the NAS. I have TCP 6881-6889, TCP 8181 (Transmissions web interface), TCP 51413 all forwarded to my NAS and it works.
- In Transmission settings on NAS - Make sure user name and password are set up correct.
And don't forget Transmission Remote GUI:

And Add to Transmission webb browser add on:
http://www.zanmato.se/projects/add-to-transmission.html - Dave_AmsTutorIs it possible to change the location of the config folder?
The "/etc/init.d/transmission" startup script is a little beyond my scripting knowledge. I would prefer the config folder to be placed under /apps/transmissionr6/ - gibxxiGuideThat would require Super-Poussin recompile his add-on with different add-on settings for the installer I would think. This may break the functionality of the add-on, as it works with the NAS. I expect there's a valid reason why he's choosing the install paths the way he is. You could create a Linux hard-link or symbolic link from the folder of your choice to where the add-on places those files if it's hard for you to remember the location.
