Support does not recommend rolling back to previous firmware of the NAS. For isolation try different browser and computer in adding Remote users.

I have logged into several different computers trying both IE and Google, however, all those machines are W10. I have remoted to a W7 machine and also tried IE and Firefox. Both to no avail - still getting no users found error message. Interestingly, I am receiving an error message from each respective browser and have pasted them below. I was able to login to the NAS using Firefox after creating an exception. IE and Edge will not allow me to access the NAS. Google give a warning and then allows connection after clicking advanced which is not unusual. Pretty sure this does not matter, but ???

Can we please try to advise some kind of work around/fix. I am approaching a week of this resource being unavailable for use by my client.
Thank you!

Upgrading to latest firmware did not fix this issue for me. Neither did trying different browsers (Chome & Edge).
I agree with Annamarie that we need a fix or workaround quickly, this is getting rather troublesome now.
Thanks.

Hello ErikHui and Annamarie,
Can you post what you see under Configuration tab?
Regards,
- AnnamarieJul 10, 2017Aspirant
Ummmm, Configuration?? Where?
I have uploaded the opening screen of my NAS - do not see configuration anywhere.
Thanks.

No, on my device, I go to Services, Installed Add Ons, scroll to bottom of page and click on Manage Remote.

Hi Annamarie, it's under Advanced settings, in the lower left corner when Remote Access is open.

No clue on Remote, but browsers have generally been giving errors like this on self-signed certificates for quite a while. Over time the warnings are becoming more strident. That's because self-signed certs (in internet servers) are a pathway to man-in-the-middle and phishing attacks.
With firefox you can simply save a security exception. The others aren't that simple - I just click through the warnings myself.

I figured as much. Thank you for the reply! I also just create an exception or click through as well. Just wanted to post this up just in case.
Have a great day.

Here is the screen capture you requested.
Also, I have been reading other Forum posts about this error. They recommend deleting certain root configuration files. Can we do that? How do I do that? Can someone share how that is done? Can a moderator do this?
Thank you!

I think you're referring to https://community.netgear.com/t5/Legacy-NETGEAR-and-Partners-Add/ReadyNAS-Remote-quot-User-not-found-quot-Problem/m-p/875341?
Putty/SSH instructions:
- download+install putty
- connect to ip-address of NAS with root user/pass using connection type SSH
- navigate to folder /opt/ (cd /opt/)
- delete p2p folder (rm -rf p2p)
Tried this earlier myself to no avail :(

Hello ErikHui and Annamarie,
I will try to check this with other as I also got the same error on 2 different legacy units.
I will get back to you as soon as I get an update.

There was a security vulnerability issue fix on the remote server, that has caused R4/R5 legacy devices to not work with ReadyNAS Remote.
The data on the NAS is not affected at all, only remote access is not available. Unfortunately while we look into this, there is no easy solution without the security fix to re-enable R4/R5 support.

Thanks for the update, glad you found the root cause. Can you please give a (rough) timeline for this?
Thanks,

Any update from anyone on this - I still have this problem. Can Netgear confirm the issue is fixed their end?
- mperreySep 28, 2017Tutor
Netgear has decided to terminate the ReadyNAS Remote service instead of fixing the problem:
I posted a message requesting they make ReadyCLOUD service available on legacy NAS units. At present, it only works on newer NAS units. They haven't replied.

Mark

mperrey, really appreciate your response. Disappointing to see Netgear leaving a large and loyal customer base in this position at such short notice. Appreciate product necessarily have a finite support lifespan, but would have exected at least a year's notice for business class products or a much more comprehsive proactive cumminication like Microsoft et al...
Many thanks

So this explains why my NGO is experiencing that same error and has received the highly discouraging Remote-end-of-life notice. Highly disappointing. Must find another vendor next time.
