ReadyNAS DUO Bit Torrent Poor download with new connection
Hi All,
Please help me before my NAS goes out the window! I have the Readynas DUO v2 which was plugged into the router from my previous service provider (SKY Broadband) and my internet connection speed was 2meg. I have the BIT Torrent client installed and use this for downloading from the internet; I have had no problems with speed in the past and on average I get around 300kb/s on downloads.
Today I have had a new internet service installed with VFAST and this is a wimax service with an antenna that has a CAT5e cable coming from it into a new router (Netgear WNDR4500). My new internet connection speed is 15meg. I have plugged my ReadyNas into this new router and tried different downloads but now I struggle to get a speed above 5kb/s.
I have tried different cables and 2 different routers (WNDR4500 & WGR614). All give the same result of slow download speeds. I have tried downloading torrent files to my PC directly with Utorrent and I have no issues with speed at all. I have tried connecting the ReadyNas to my existing sky router and it works like it did before but once I connect it to my new connection it struggles badly.
Thanks in advance and I appreciate all help.

- kyle14786AspirantI thought it could be VFAST but then the torrents download fast on my pc. My Dad had the exact same setup with a SKY router and readynas and he also changed over to VFAST the same day as me with the same WNDR4500 and he is having the same problem with slow download speeds, Im sure there must be a solution but I just cant figure it out.
I have downloaded the sparc version but upon install after about 3 mins it states an error but when I look at the installed services tab tranmission is there but I cant use it and I cant even remove it. - HERBIEOAspirantWhen you click transmission in frontview does a box come up with settings in ?
- kyle14786AspirantWhen I click on the transmission interface button in frontview nothing happens - I have tried clicking on this before and after disabling transmission.
- HERBIEOAspirantHow did you disable it ? dont know if its exactly the same as the arm version.
- kyle14786AspirantHave now managed to load transmission by downloading an older version and installing to the readynas. I can also load the transmission web interface from frontview and I have been able to load a torrent - thats where my sucess seems to stop. The torrent will load and after a minute or so it returns an error "Tracker returned an error: Connection Failed".
I have opened the correct ports and have checked they are open. - HERBIEOAspirantHave you tried just the one torrent ?
- kyle14786AspirantNo tried a couple of different torrents and they all return the same tracker error.
- HERBIEOAspirantDoes seem like your Nas is blocking something you need for torrents as you can download ok with windows, so i don't think its the router, but what i dont know.
- kyle14786AspirantThanks for your help, I dont think it is to do with the NAS as it worked with the previous router no problem. :(
- HERBIEOAspirantMaybe you should look on the vfast forum see if there is known issues.
