ReadyNAS remote and windows XP
Hi everyone
Have tried installing latest version of ReadyNAS Remote, (1.6.5.19), on two separate PC's running XP Professional SP3. In each case Leaf Adapter failed to acquire an IP address and I got the message " A connection to the server could not be established: this error may occur if you are on a network that uses a proxy server or if you have previously configured leaf to use a proxy server and the proxy server has changed. Would you like to configure Ready NAS remote to use a proxy to connect to the internet? "
Behind same router I have successfully installed ReadyNAS remote on a Windows 7 machine and it is working perfectly.
Have tried multiple disable/enables, uninstall/installs but all to no avail. Would appreciate any help/guidance on this issue.
Update:
Just tried another installation, this time a desktop with a fresh install of Windows XP, (fully updated). Desktop connects to internet via a totally different router but result is the same. Seems there must be something wrong with the ReadyNas Remote software?
Also noted that version number on download page is 1.6.5.18, (for XP, Vista, Windows 7), but version that downloads from link is 1.6.5.19, (for Windows 8)?

- justacogAspirantI'm having this same issue on WinXP Pro SP3; no WAN Remote access but local Workgroup path to NAS is fine. I even shut off the Windows Firewall thinking is was blocking something. I also tried setting Leaf to 5.0.0.3 as stated in manual_config_adapter.pdf. No effect. Leaf still goes to DHCP enabled with no IP assigned and Remote cannot log in with connection error regarding connection to server could not be established due to proxy server (of which there is none).
RADar sees the NAS, and I can access from windows explorer local Workgroup network path, but no joy with on WAN Remote application on Win XP Pro.
I also have no problem with either Remote application or local Workgroup network path on my Corporate Win7Pro laptop on same home network. On Win7 Pro Leaf does get an IP address 5.178.xxx.xxx
Quite frustrating. - de_niroGuideHi justacog and MickB
This is a known issue and confirmed on Windows XP,we are looking for a solution from the engineering since the same problem happened on another users' machine. - slujan1AspirantHello Support,
I ham having the same issues with XP. When does Netgear plan to resolve the issue?
Or can someone please post the right version of ReadyRemote for XP? Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
Version: 1.6.5.18. Right now when we dl the XP version we are getting the Windows 8 version. This is unacceptable, can someone please post a link to the correct version for XP.
Thanks,
-Steven - gc_londonAspirantHello,
I am experiencing the same problem.
The leaf networks adapter reverts the ip settings to default when I try to login to ReadyNAS Remote V1.6.5.19 on an XP pc. There are OSX macs on the same remote network that connect perfectly with tuntap and V1.2.5 (mac). Is this definitely a software fault or is my network configuration likely to be at fault? If someone could post a link to v1.6.5.18 that would be pretty good.
thx
GC - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserReadynas remote can be found here: https://remote.readynas.com/download.html
- jm50AspirantStephenB, the problem with the link you have provided is that the links for XP, Vista, Win7 (Version: 1.6.5.18) and Win8 (Version: 1.6.5.19) point both to the same location.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserActually they don't. The windows 8 link has a /w8/ in the url, which is not present in the other link.
- disconectAspirantbut the version still 1.6.5.19 :-(

Yes, I agree. The version is listed as 1.6.5.18 on the web page, but the program itself says it is 1.6.5.19disconect wrote: but the version still 1.6.5.19 :-( - JKrenzerAspirantHello,
I am having the same issue but I tried installing Version 1.1.9 and I got the same error. Any ideas?
