ReadyNAS Remote Duo V2 installation
I recently purchased a ReadyNAS Duo v2 and when I go to the add on tab to install readynas remote and click "get" a message comes up saying installation in progress, please wait for confirmation. I have waited over a day and it still says this. I have also done a factory reset and the message is still coming up. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to solve this problem.

- andershlAspirantFound that it will only work with
1) Anonymous login from the 'droid
2) Those shares at the ReadyNAS that have default FTP-access set to read/only
Login attempts with userid/pw from the 'droid will inevitably just return "221 Goodbye" - Papypat30200AspirantThanks for the tip but How do you manage an "Anonymous" login ?
- Deb_BAspirantWish I'd known all this before I bought the beastie... It has been a nightmare to set up and now I find it doesn't do half of what I need it to. Hope they fix it soon. I can't get my shares working remotely on my Mac or my iPad.

To use Remote on iPhone/Android (via FTP) on Duo v2, try this add-on: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons ... rm_1.1.bin (enables the FTP service on the Remote network interface)
Future Remote or iPhone will have the option to use CIFS instead of FTP. Not sure when that will go through the App Store approval process.
Tried this. Got "Failed to install add-on" - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt may still have installed successfully. On the Dashboard, click Configure and look under Add-ons > Installed. What add-ons do you see there?
- Deb_BAspirantYes, it did install, but still won't work. I have read that it only works with Raidiator 5.3.2 and below. Mine has 5.3.4.
- Deb_BAspirantI can't see the shares on my mac either, using the remote client.
- adam77AspirantI have a Duo v2 (5.3.4) and couldn't get the remote access from my Android working either. This was one of the reasons I bought it so was disappointed when it didn't work out of the box. Or even after installing the remote iphone add-on http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/arm/5.3/RemoteiPhone-arm_1.1.bin (The light is green on the add-ons page, but grey when you click on the iphone add-on - I wonder if this means it's not working properly.....)
However after some tinkering I have now got it working. I initially followed the instructions here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=58716 to switch proftpd on, but then I started getting the 221 Goodbye message as soon as my Android connected.
After investigating the log file for proftpd, I found that it was rejecting my log in because I didn't have a shell defined against my user account. Instead of setting a shell, I added 'RequireValidShell off' to the pfoftpd.conf file and then voila, I connected and logged in from my Android phone. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo note that FTP is added as a feature in 5.3.5 (currently in public beta: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=148&t=62728). I'd now recommend using that rather than the RemoteiPhone add-on. With 5.3.5 enabling FTP for use with ReadyNAS Remote is easy.
- Deb_BAspirantThanks. Good to see the new version seems to be addressing everyone's queries. How long does Beta testing usually take? Also, can you recommend me any good sites where I can learn more about the general principles of FTP, uPnP, port forwarding etc. in general, as I am finding this level of technical discussion challenging and would like to learn more!
