Replicate broke backup source folder?

Hello everyone,

I have been using Replicate for a year now to backup my office NAS to an identical NAS located at home. I have two different jobs running every night, Documents and Pictures. The Jobs have the standard names given by Replicate which means that I have never been able to see the files at the home NAS, just folders named like "H0CFMH~4" containing empty folders when browsing using windows explorer (CIFS). I have been okay with that because Replicate can still see my backed up files, but now a problem has occured which I find rather scary.

The Pictures folder of the office (source) NAS is now also like that, containts only "H0CFMH~4" with empty folders inside and all my pictures are gone. I've tried restoring to a backup that is several months old but without success. Does anyone know why this has happened and how I can get my files back?! I would really like to find the cause for this because if the same thing would happen to my Documents folder I would be really screwed.....

I hope that I can log in using FTP or something and still see my files (can not try that right now) but still, this should not happen?

  • I may add to the matter that when I SSH to the source unit the files are there under /c/Pictures like they should. But as I said, through windows explorer I see only a strange name and empty folders named like dates.
