http://www.subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp appears to be GPL/open source, music streamer.. similar/same as orb but looks much more flexible and open. assuming its possible, would love to see this a...
i've got subsonic installed, ran into not being able to stream the sound of a video, but i followed the steps above and updated the ffmpeg binary and got sound working! thanks very much!
i have a small problem now.. i don't seem to be able to buffer enough of the stream to actually watch a movie without pausing somwhat frequently... I am streaming at 1000kbs but ive tried 500kps too.

this *may* be the cause, but network and disk io arent that busy
I have a readynas ultra4 with 4 x 1T|WD WD1002FBYS 7.2K my laptop and readynas are both connected via 1G network, and my laptop is a thinkpad t400 4g ram and dualcore cpu.
