I agree that you are double-routing, not really bridging. I have a similar configuration (Verizon router with 192.168.x.x addresses in front of a R6300v2 with 10.x.x.x addresses). What I've done is forward the ports I am using from the Verizon router to the R6300v2, and then forward again in the R6300v2.
On the DNS server, you can only change the DNS server if the NAS is set to use a static address. Otherwise you need to change the DNS in one of the routers (which will change the default DNS server for all devices).
