I'm also having the same problem, I've reinstalled but still I lose the torrents and settings and get the same error message whenever the readynas is rebooted.
After reading on other websites I've also tried enabling sessions by adding "session = ./session" to rtorrent.rc but that didn't have any effect.
Has anyone managed to fix this?
