Squeezebox server (logitech media server) on an RN204
Hi everyone, having moved up to an RN204 I'd like to try (somehow) to get squeezebox server up and running on it. Notes on this are very patchy, everything I can see seems to fad out after the Pro (x86) models. Interestingly on the apps page it offers an install option for "logitech media server NT" v7.9.0 but this seems to die part way through when I tried it initially.
I did fid references to installing say:
logitechmediaserver-7.7.5-arm-readynas.bin
And there is a hint her that it can work:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?100799-LMS-on-ReadyNAS-102
and notes on installing a Debian version at:
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice to not have to scrap my squeezebox radio and classics just yet!
Richard.

Oops. Never mind the SSH stuff. It's definitely in the system logs. System > Logs > Download Logs.

I haven't tried on the ReadyNAS 204 yet, but I didn't have any issues installing netdata or LMS on a fresh install of 6.5.1 on a ReadyNAS 316.
richard-york would you mind sending over the /var/log/readynasd/install_debpkg.log file to me via PM? If I recall it's not included in the system log download, so you'll need to enable SSH and use an SCP client to grab it (Filezilla, WinSCP, etc). This log is generated only when an app is manually uploaded.

Although I thought I'd posted the log eearlier today it doesn't look like it appeared. Very odd. either way it showed up straight away these sort of errors:
Err http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ wheezy/main libgdbm3 armel 1.8.3-11
Could not resolve 'mirrors.kernel.org'Which immediately points to a DNS problem. Sure enough becuase I'd set a static IP address that hadn't been set up.
I wonder why "jen" had the same problem then?
At this point I seem to be up and running, the app instlled and has fired up. Thanks for the pointer to the log file, it feels like a document from NetGear on the logs files and what they tell us would be very helpful. I had no idea to look at install_debpkg.log

Hello richard-tork,
Have you tried installing manually? You should find it from http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9. You need the ARM version, filename is nastools-logitechmediaserver_7.9.0.b7dfc80-nt1_armel.

Hi, I thought it worth checking that this is not independent of the app and it seems to be in some way. I have just tried installing NAStools "netdata" app and this failed to install in exactly the same way.
I've reinstalled the 6.5.1 firmware but this has not helped.
I'm now unsure what is going on. Any thoughts? I've tried uploading the apps from both a Mac sunning safari and from a PC running Chrome; both show the same problem.

Hello richard-york,
I tried on our own NAS here and I got the same results. I guess it is about the compatibility of the new FW with the Logitech's version. The developer may need to submit a new version to Netgear.

Hi, yes I have. A quick summary, I have an RN204 with (so far) 2 of 2TB discs. I have firmware 6.5.1 running. No other apps are installed (I tried installing the plex server after a first round of problems to check that I could and it started up fine - now uninstalled again).
When I try to install the Logitech Media Server NT from the Available Apps page it starts to "download packages" and then causes the web page to reset to the Netgear readynas start page, after a few seconds, as if it has trigger a sort of re-start. Then a few mins later I get the error that it can't install it. All fairly unhappy.
If I manually upload the .deb file, downloaded from the page you have pointed me to I have slightly more success, in that after a few minutes the app appears on the Installed Apps page but then it wouldn't turn on (sorry I missed the error message). A further attempt didn't get that far, I just got a failed to install message.
Could it be that the newest version of the readynas firmware is causing an incompatibility?
Richard.
