I have now completed work on the uvc drivers. See http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/ for complete info. This suite of modules support a larger number of webcams than the GSPCA version.
I have also compiled and am testing the latest version of motion (supports uvc). See http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome for more info on this program.
I need now to sit on it all for a few week or so to see what problems if any arise. I already know that motion is quite processor hungry in streaming mode, so I will try all different settings to see how the readynas copes. I intend to test with 4 webcams running simultaneously (thats all I can dig up from my box of bits).
I will probably hold off on the add-ons until the moderators decide whether I can post in the correct forum...
