Accessing NAS via ReadyCLOUD

No. If you are on the same network as the NAS, you can just browse to https://nas-ip-address/admin or https://nas-name/admin (using the real IP address or hostname of course).
If you aren't on the same network, then you can use a VPN to connect to your home network.
ReadyCloud is totally optional - personally I've chosen not to use it, and I have no problems administering my NAS locally or remotely.
Thank you. That has solved my immediate problem, but I would still like a solution to accessing the NAS remotely.

ReadyCloud can be hit or miss, so one option is to just try later.
Personally I use the OpenVPN service that is built into my Orbi router for remote access. It is free, and apps are available for Android, iOS, Windows, and MacOS. The VPN connects my device to my home network.
Another similar option is to use ZeroTier for remote access - there is an app available for the NAS.
It is also possible to forward a secondary https port in your router to the NAS (combined with using DDNS so you can reach your router w/o knowing it's current IP address). That isn't as secure as the other approaches - if you use it, you need to be careful to use strong passwords on the NAS.
