Aug 24, 2016Admin group missing OS 6.5.1
I've just done a full factory reset on a RN 316, setup the user accounts but I'm unable to put any users into the "admin" group, in fact three is no "admin" group in the frontview UI Groups screen, o...

Aug 24, 2016Thanks for the suggestions. Idk why they changed it. We as the owners of the NAS should have full control on what groups/access our users get, i prefer to have a 2nd admin user as backup and not give away root access for administration of the box. Even tho admin/root access is never a good idea for a user, having a username 'admin' that has the same password as 'root' is even worse :(
I re-installed the OS again, and now the 'home' folder is correctly called 'Home Folders' - something strange going on. I'll try the folder permissions to see if I can make it work before installing a beta OS.

That's not true for me, I still have that access on my OS6 systems from both win7 and win10. Though I am currently running 6.6 on one and 6.5.2 on the other, I had them up and running on 6.5.1 for about a month.
I am guessing that you also use ReadyCloud. Many users needed to add NAS admin credentials to their Windows credentials manager (and I think almost all of them also use ReadyCloud).

I removed all entries from windows credintials manager, rebooted the NAS, re-checked SMB, enabled AFS+HTTP on 3 shares with admin+1xuser for Read/Write access (+ enabled for Everyone "Read Only", disabled Allow Anonymous access) on SMB+AFS+HTTP on the 3 shares, then rebooted PC + NAS again and its working so far...its been very weird, because now admin SMB access lists all the folders correctly (data, home, etc.) on the LAN....
I would prefer to disable all access except for read access on specific user accounts but I'm afraid if i untick the "Everyone" for read only, it'll just break it again :(
I'm guessing the message "The ReadNAS is currently syncing. During this proccess, the system is still accessible, however, performance and Admin Page responsiveness might be impacted" may have had a delayed impact. Not sure what its sync'ing (other than maybe parity setup), these are empty drives.....

Hi J_s1,
I suggest that you monitor your SMB access on your ReadyNAS and report back if you encounter any issues. It is probably resyncing cause the system was factory restored yesterday and you have more than 2 drives on your system.
Kind regards,
