AFP auto mount on ReadyNAS startup (OSX 10.5.5)
Hi there
Is it possible to get some of the shares automatically mounted, when the NAS ist started up? Or even better as soon as the ReadyNas is visible in the Finder? This would also allow me to connect my macbook to the network when the ReadyNas is already running and get my shares auto mounted...
Thx in advance!

- BeatCrazyAspirantHi,
Has anyone tried this for Lion? I'm new to Mac OS, and get the basic concepts. I'm using an AFB share on my NV for my /Music, and of course need to remount upon a reboot. - KillerBobAspirantMy "Mount" file, which is an AppleScript, works fine in Lion.
The individual lines I use are;
mount volume "afp://XXX (AFP)._afpovertcp._tcp.local/YYY"
...where XXX is the name of your NAS, and YYY is the name of the share you want to mount. In FrontView I have enabled AFP for the shares, with unique access rules for every user group.
Bo - BeatCrazyAspirantHi KillerBob,
I tried that line, and got:
mount: You must specify a filesystem with -t. - KillerBobAspirantHi BC,
Are you sure you have enabled AFP in FrontView? Also, when you check "Finder", you should see a listing for your NAS, in the sidebar (remember to check Bonjour computers), saying something along the lines of XXX (AFP), where XXX is the name of your NAS.
KB - BeatCrazyAspirantYes, the share is definitely AFP enabled. I can access content on it, no problem.
- KillerBobAspirantAnd when you go into finder, connect to the NAS (is there an AFP version?), and into a share, try to check "Get info" on that share. The server should read "afp://XXX (AFP)._afpovertcp.local/YYY" The format should read "AppleShare". Does it?

Yes, the NAS shows (AFP). When I do the "Get info" on the share, I get this:
- KillerBobAspiranthmmmm
If all is right, when selecting the (AFP) listing for your NAS in the finder, connecting, the Info for any share should look like:
It obviously doesn't, and I would look into the network settings in OSX.
KB - KillerBobAspirantBTW - you have turned on AFP on the NAS right;

KB - BeatCrazyAspirantInteresting. What network settings in OS X would I need to check into?
Yes, AFP is turned on in the NAS. My screen looks exactly like yours above, except I also have a box to Advertise AFP service over AppleTalk. I checked that too, makes no difference.
I can access the files on the share just fine. But obviously I need to do additional steps!
