afp shares dissapeared

I have recently lost access to my afp shares from my macs. I have a mac min and a MBP running snow leopard on my network at home. I have noticed that all the AFP shares are no longer seen on the network by the macs.

I upgraded the firmware to RAIDiator 4.1.8 [1.00a043] and the afp shares showed up.
then I came back later and they were gone again.

I can see CIF shares on the macs.
I can log in to front view and see the shares are listed there as well.

Could anyone suggest what I could do next?
