All of a sudden - Read Only access via Mac
My NV+ has been performing very well. I use an Ubuntu laptop to access it (smb) , and my wife uses a Mac. (cif/smb) We each have a user account and want all the files in Shared Files to be full...

Good news - it's been resolved!
The case I logged with tech support is closed now. If anyone else finds this thread in future and is wondering how we solved it, the steps are:
Configuring Advance CIFS Permissions:
1. Go to Share listings
2. Click Cifs icon of the specific share name
3. Scroll down and put a check on "Automatically set permissions on new files and folders" under Advance CIFS Permissions and click on apply.
4. Then go to Advance Options tab
5. Share folder owner: (type the share name)
6. Share folder group: (nogroup)
7. Put a check on "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings" and click Apply.
P.S. After you put a click on the Apply button the check will disappear inside the check box, it's normal because it's an action box.
Thanks to Reinhard at Netgear for the helpful solution. I don't fully understand the security implications of the changing the Shared_Files owner in nogroup to give Group & Everyone read/write, but since the NAS is on a private network I presume it is OK. If anyone has a link to a thread that explains any risks I might be exposed to and how to mitigate them I'd be grateful.
A caveat - this solution worked for me, in my situation and was provided on the basis of my log files. It might not fix your problem ;-)
