\Default\AppData\Local\Application Data is not just hidden, it is a considered an OS protected file. It is a symbolic folder link (e.g. shortcut), and if you click on it you will get access denied even if you have administrator rights.
Application Data exists (and is similarly protected) in all user folders. If you know a specific subfolder name within Application Data, you can access it by pasting the full name into explorer, But you cannot list its contents even if you are the user, and you have administrator rights.
\Default\AppData\Local\History\ is similar (an OS protected symbolic link). On my Windows 7 Professional system, I don't get access denied if I click on it, however it doesn't open to anything either.
