Have you setup access under the Share, for your users/group?
Frontview - Shares - ShareListing - And then added your group/user details within permissions to have access to the FTP?
The greyed out bit you mention: - You will have to enable "Private Homes Shares available for users" for the extra options not to be greyed out.
Just a few bits to give you a nudge, hopefully in the right direction, until the proper techz get chance to assist further.
