Is there something you need to recover from that backup?
If not, I would do a fresh backup and see if you still get bit-rot protection errors or not.
What do the SMART stats for your disks look like?
Btw we have released a new firmware release 6.5.0.

The file that is showing bit rot is the base image of a server backup and it has now started to fail image verification in the backup software (which verifies the whole backup image chain every 7 days). If the image chain fails to verify then I won't be able to use it for restores. So I take it there aren't any repair tools that can be run on it?
I will just have to start a new backup. One of the files with bit rot is 800GB, so its quite a lengthy process to start a whole new backup. This all seemed to start around the time I added an extra 4tb drive to the chassis and it took a few days to add it into the array. (maybe just a co-incidence?)
Where do I find the Smart Stats for my disks?
I will upgrade to the latest firmware shortly.

If bit-rot protection can't correct bit-rot then fresh backups are the way forward unless your backup software has some other way of fixing it. It's clear that your backup software agrees with the NAS units conclusion that there has been bit-rot that hasn't been corrected, so the feature is working as designed.
Can you send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
The history of the key SMART stats are in smart_history.log in the logs zip.May/may not be coincidence. It would be interesting to have a quick look of the logs.

Logs sent.

It doesn't look like the logs go back far enough to see what happened. Would have needed the logs to have been downloaded shortly after you first saw the error to see more relevant info.
Disk health looks to be fine.
I notice that you updated from 6.1.9 to 6.4.2 back in March this year.
Bit-rot protection was added in the 6.2.0 release. If the backups are all that is on this system it may be a good idea to do a factory reset to get a clean setup on the latest firmware.
I can see quite a lot of snapshots including a number that were not upgraded when you did the recent update to 6.4.2.
In 6.5.0 there are now options to set a custom snapshot schedule. You may wish to reduce the number of snapshots taken somewhat (if you continue to use those). Your volume usage is under 80% which is fine, but it was up over 95% back in April not long before you started getting the bit-rot errors.
It would be best to keep volume usage under 80%.
