Can I use 1 port for direct connection and 2nd to the switch
I jusy ordered 716X. Can't afford going to a full 10gb network yet, so for now I'm thinking about ordering just one 10gb card for my main workstation, and use 1gb for the rest of the computers. Would ...

Exactly, the switch is out of my budget right now. Plus, I don't really need 10gb to all of my computers, just one - my main workstation. I'm running a Cisco SG300-10 switch, happy with it so far.
