Cannot see Readynas remote Shares
Sorry if this has been covered before: - I have an XP at work and was doing fine accessing my share remotely. Then suddenly I can't: -
Now, I log in and the ReadyNas remote icon (bottom right of screen) remains grey, so I right click it again and click on "log in". Now it starts to flash blue and the Network leaf adapter icon comes up (with the little golden ball moving between two computers) - this is new too.
After a while thereadynas remote icon goes blue. I right click again and click on "connect to ReadyNas" and ithis throws up a explorer screen with usual address : C:\Documents and Settings\LV_User\NetHood\ReadyNAS Shares - Readynas shares icon.
HELP!!
Could it be my firewall back at home - i have a relatively new BT infinityhub
Thanks

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt could be the new router. Try adding a port-forwarding rule in the Infinityhub to forward port 6300 to the NAS.
- I get this when I try 6300
"The number you’ve entered for one of the port is invalid. Please try again using a number from 0 to 65535"
Do I need an extra 0 on the end?
do I put this in for TCP and UDP ?
Ta - BTW I was putting 6300 in all 4 boxes of "port range" and "translate to"

TCP should be enough, though UDP won't hurt. 6300, not 63000.Angusmac1 wrote: I get this when I try 6300

"all four boxes"???? the port forwarding is done only in the router, forwarding inbound traffic on port 6300 to the NAS. What boxes are you talking about? - Seems the firewall setting in Home hub 5 ask me for port range forwarding - rather then single point - I can't see I have an option.... This explains the first 2 boxes.
Next to this are more two boxes - again for a range - under the heading of "translate to". These are for the port range on the PC I am using... I believe.
... always nice when things are straight forward... - Obviously can't screen print here but this youtube video shows exactly what I'm looking at.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73GxoU4vvJ0 - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThat helps. I was thinking 4 devices, not 4 dialog boxes.
Use "ANY" and enter 6300 in all four. - Arrggh - No joy! I am surprised as it has a firewall flavour.
I do remember a similar prob a while back which came down to the "allow anonymous access" box being unticked some how... Not so here now though...
The new readyNas remote client software now has a device window. - This shows my NAS but it is permanently offline...
Any more wisdom?
BTW which sharing protocols should be ticked?? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserCIFS/SMB is the protocol you need for Windows (including XP).
- Thanks. could it be a prob with leaf network adapter settings? - it is only sending - slowly at 10mb/s and not receiving
