cant access shares over domain using domain name of share

My RN102 works a treat (kinda) its joined the domain, set permisions and domain users and computers all happy and controlled.

BUT.. there is one machine. its an XP (legacy :( )

i can access the shares via file explorer with the ip address however if i access the share via the domain name in file explorer I cant i get cant access resourse.

I have checked the domain name points to the right ip address. as i said earlier it works for everyone else whether they access it via domain name or ipaddress.

Any pointers for clarification for my mind would be greatful.. I know this is an XP machine and going to be thrown out in next few months..
