Can't find shares in windows 10
Hello,
Since I had some problems with connecting my ready nas (Ultra 2) I reset the unit to factory settings. And did do a new install (with new firmware).
Now I do have the problem that I can see the device in windows explorer. But I can't find the share which I created.
What I find strange is that when I use (in the windows explorer) : //NAS IP ADRESS I do find the device. But when I use \\ NAS IP ADRESS, I get an error stating that the address name is misspelled or incorrect.
When I type in the internet explorer: //IP ADRESS/Shares I also find the shared folder.
I hope that some can help me on finding the shared folder within the windows explorer to be able to copy files/backup to this share.
Thanks in advance for your response
//nas-ip-address will open your browser, \\nas-ip-address is need to access shares over SMB.
It's most likely that your issue is because Microsoft is deprecating the SMB 1.0/CIFS client in Windows, and OS 4.2.x NAS don't support the newer SMB 3.0 protocol.
Go into "turn windows features on or off", and see if the SMB 1.0 client is installed. If it's not, then install it and reboot the PC. Then try the \\nas-ip-address again. If it still fails, you might also need to enter NAS credentials in the windows credential manager. Post back if that's the case.

Thank you stephenB. But in my list with features I can't find SMB 1.0 I can only find SMB direct. I work with Windows 10 Pro, might that be the difference/problem? And/or is there another way to enable SMB 1.0 client?

Problem solved!!
THank you StephenB.!
Indeed the SMB 1.0 client wasn't installed. I found a way to add it via the windows powershell (run as administrator):Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName smb1protocol
Also I did add the ip adress of the NAS in the reference library. WIth this now I can find/approach the shares via \\NAS-IP!
