Change from X-Raid2 to RAID0? [Noob Warning]

Hi guys,

This has probably been asked 100 times but I cant find it in the forum..
I have the ReadyNas Ultra 2. I have been using it with a single 2TB drive which is now at capacity. Moments ago the mailman brought me a new 3TB WD Red and with my geeky excitement I promptly snapped it in to the spare bay.
Now, I was obviously hoping to now have a 5TB NAS with no redundancy. However, as I am now learning, with Xraid enabled, the NAS will automatically mirror the volume. (Right)?

So, my question is, how do I (easily?) change (after the recovery process) change it so I have a 5TB volume with no redundancy?

Thanks Guys.

(PS. Sorry for the Noob question.)
(PPS. I know most of you will tell me I'm an idiot for not using redundancy, but it's mainly for movies and TV, no biggy.)

Also even ignoring the filename at the end the path you've given there does look odd.

You mean the mixed use of "/" and "\" ?

Yes, that looks odd to me.

I'd like to know what firmware version is running on the unit.
  • It is odd indeed.
\ are used as escape character on linux (mainly to allow space in filenames)
/ is the normal separator for path in linux.

As for the starting \D-NAS\Volume1, I assumed this was the normal root directories for this NAS model (for my RN104 this would be "/data/Transmission")

\\D-NAS\Volume1 looks more like a network path for accessing from a PC, not the local path on the ReadyNAS itself.
  • Yep, by adding the missing \, I agree this really looks like it indeed (provided the NAS is called D-NAS and the Share is called Volume1)
This would totally explain why transmission couldn't find the directory. But seems strange that Transmission is a folder and not a share, usually add ons create a share, may have been changed by the user though.
  • Hey Guys,

Just read your follow on comments...
Still having problems, the forums and google show this is common error....
Any advice? I'm running 6.1.8 on a RN Ultra 2.

Turns out that because you weren't using the default volume 'data', some paths in settings.json needed to be changed to use the volume name you chose.
