Copying from RN516 to ReadyNas Pro 6
I have an older ReadyNas Pro 6 (w/ OS 4.2.27) and just purchased an RN516 (w/ OS 6). There is a Netgear article (Article ID 29730) that describes how to copy data from a RAIDiator 4 system to a ReadyNAS OS 6 system. It gives a somewhat complicated procedure of 14 steps. This is probably a stupid question, but is there some reason I can't just use Windows Explorer and drag the folders/files from the Pro 6 to the RN516?

Of course you can use Windows PC to do drag and drop copy from one NAS to the other. Drawbacks with drag and drop copy:
1. Your PC needs to do entire copy. It is best if your PC has fast connection to both NAS. It can take long time if you have a lot data on NAS
2. File access permissions might not what you want after Windows copies these files.

Using a NAS backup job isn't that difficult, and will almost certainly be faster then drag and drop. Using the windows pc doubles the network traffic (everything goes to the PC and then back out to the other NAS).
