CPU fan speed not showing
Hello all,
I've just replaced the CPU fan with a Noctua fan, which I modified slightly to make it fit perfectly (I'll share some pics later).
All is well but.. OS6 does not show the CPU fan speed anymore.
This is an old Pro6 running OS6
I used this fan https://noctua.at/en/nf-r8-redux-1800-pwm as it comes with a 4pin connector. I thought it was a straight replacement.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Check connections. If all looks good, including pulse input and tach output not reversed, my next guess would be it's just a faulty fan. It happens.

I have already - I suspected the faulty fan as well... I guess I'll test it on my PC before returning it.
Thanks for the sanity check.
Update for Sandshark : I am very confused. I tested the fan on my desktop motherboard (on CPU connector which is the only one I have featuring 4 pins) and it reports the speed as expected - as does the original ReadyNas fan.
Then I started the NAS with the original fan and the speed indicator was back. I then swapped the fan with the system running and the Noctua fan is now reporting the speed correctly... Not sure it'll survive a reboot.
What is happening here?

update2: it does not survive a reboot
