Directory list in DLNA
I've seen the thread about file listings but I have a directory problem that is getting progressively worse.
Panasonic Vierra with a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [X-RAID2].
For either photos, music or video, but it's worst now in photos, I load the directories and files through windows in a conventional heirarchical order, ie, music, artist name(s), album name(s), files.
Or in photos, holiday date/description, location or day and files.
This heirarchy is exacltly the same as on the windows HDDs the directories and files all eminate from.
But once on DLNA I get, lets take photos as an example, main directory "pictures", then a choice of things like "all pictures", "camera", "date taken" and "folders".
When I select folders I used to get all the folders, then the sub-folders and files.
Now I get some of the folders (directories) but not all, but another sub-directory called pictures.
If I select that I get some more of the directories, but not all, and another sub-directory called folders again.
If I select that I get some more but still not all and another directory called pictures.
And so it goes on for now four levels of pictures/folders/pictures/folders/pictures/folders until I can actually see all the directories.
It has been getting worse as I add more.
I don't think it can be a problem with the initial structure in Windows as I have copied the whole directory(s) onto a much cheaper NAS (my ultimate backup but also DLNA enabled) and the TV displays it all perfectly.
Thoughts ?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat version of RAIDiator and what version of ReadyDLNA?
Have you tried doing a ReadyDLNA full rescan? - rodsugdenAspirant4.2.26 which is probably quite old but I generally don't mess with firmware until things go seriously wrong...
I didn't realise the DNLA rescan existed....
But when I found it the auto-update was enabled (presumably by default).
I ran it anyway and now things are better, but even stranger.
Starting with just "pictures", then "folders", it now lists me everything in music, pictures and video and I still have to then select another sub-folder called pictures to get the correct listing.
At least it's only two levels down now...... - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredUpdate the firmware and if your ReadyDLNA version is still out of date install the update add-on: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946
Then try another rescan. - rodsugdenAspirantThanks,
That certainly improved things.
But it's still not quite what I would expect.
At the top level I now get "folders", "music", "pictures", "video". but if I select pictures I still get all the music and video directories listed as well.
However, if I select "folders" at the first level I the get music, pictures video etc re-listed and then, if I select pictures at the second level, it works.
So I now only have to go one level more than required to get a "normal" directory.
Maybe I'm missing something with the file structure but somehow I expect it to be pictures, then all the pictures sub-directories, not all the music and video as well.
The structure in windows is quite clear and that is where I copy it from.
Selecting "pictures" and then getting all the music and video directories as well just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm too old for linux based systems. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you install this x86 add-on: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=392371#p392371
This should force a full rescan. Is it any different after this scan completes?
