DLNA - New files showing 2 entries for every file on DLNA Clients
I have both the RN102 and RN104 devices with multiple folders shared using DLNA, and both NAS devices also have external USB disks attached. When I upload new videos (usually mkv files, but also mp4 and avi), my DLNA clients show two copies for each new file I upload until I disable DLNA for that share, and then re-enable it (forcing a rebuild of the index, I assume). This happens with two BluRay players - a LG BP570 and a Sony BDP S5100, and also my outdoor Netgear NeoTV Max that I use with a projector. To be clear, it doesn't matter if the share is on the internal array (JBOD for the RN102 and Raid 5 for the RN104), or an external USB disk - the behaivor is the same. All of these devices have the latest firmware loaded.
All new video files are listed twice in their respective menus on the DLNA clients, but only the second one will play - the first one says "Cannot play this file." Obviously, the index is a phantom. Once I disable, and then re-enable DLNA on the share and the index is rebuilt, all is normal.
I add files to these shares nearly every day and it is annoying to have to run though this "procedure" each time. This has been happening since OS 6.1.x and I'm on 6.2.5 on both the RN102 and RN104. I don't see any referenece to this issue being fixed in OS 6.4.x and there's been a lot of people having issues with that, so I'm afraid to upgrade again (having had to reload from scratch multiple times after firmware "upgrades"). Everything else is working great (VPN, anti-virus, surveilence, FTP, and more) and I don't want to "rock the boat" with another "upgrade".
Has anybody experienced my situation or am I doing something wrong? I have 25+ years as an IT professional and I think I've seen my share of tricky problems, but in my experience there always seems to be something around the corner to discover.
Thanks

Hi E_Lord,
Welcome to the community!
Can you post some screenshot of the DLNA properties of the affected shares as well as the ReadyDLNA settings of your NAS? Ensure that "Auto Scan" is enabled so the device will rescan automatically all newly added media files that will be streamed through DLNA.
Looking forward to your response.
Kind regards,
BrianL
