DLNA showing multiple entries
Hi Everyone
Got an odd one, I have a ReadyNAS Ultra+ and recently it has started showing multiple entries of any video content I upload, and I am not talking one or 2, there can be 40+ copies of the same file when looking at the file structure via a DLNA device. But it doesn't do this to everything, and it isn't all the time.
The DLNA devices I have tried are a Samsung C Series TV and Samsung Blu-Ray player, yet when I look at the content from a file explorer, IE Finder or Windows Explorer, there is only one file.
The ReadyNAS is running the latest version and the content is copied up from Lion 10.7, yet Lion only sees one copy of the file, and given there is no change to the file, I am pretty sure this isn't the new backup program of the Mac.
Any ideas?

- gogherAspiranthave you solved the problem ?
i've got the same. my has is readynas duo v2.
thanks in advance - jorgeg731Aspirantsame problem here
- WolfCaboAspirantGo to the settings of your readyNAS.
Then search for the ReadyDNLA setting.
There should be a button to run a scan (or sync) of your files.
That should solve the problem.
Sorry I can't give more detailed info but I don't have acces to my readyNAS to look for the exact names. - jorgeg731AspirantIn my case i can not find what you are is nas dou v2 and there is no rescan button
- JB19701AspirantSame problem here. There must be a way around this. I copy media, TV etc on to my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus almost daily. It's a complete tart on to have to rescan your files manually all the time.
- gogherAspiranthere is the same on DUO V2. The problem seems to be related to some letters (,à,-,_.. or combinations of those in the file name. I haven't found any solutions, but still waiting for a NETGEAR fix. the only workaround i found, is to recreate the volume and copy back the files after i have renamed them on the source... it seems to be a DLNA SERVER fault only. can you confirm it ? infact if i try to rename the file on the NAS, on that side (disk) everything will be fine, but on DLNA part no rescan action will be performed and only one entry will be renamed, bul the others keep the old, wrong name.
bye - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you try ReadyDLNA 1.0.24?: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946
To install on the Dashboard, click Configure, go to the Add-ons tab, click the + button at the far right, browse for the location where you downloaded the add-on, upload the add-on etc. - bernisAspirantI have the same problems with NV+ v2.
- Multiple entry (I think because, rescan is not available and add and remove files)
- Null directory with the categories (Video, Photo, Music, (null))
- No folder information (if I browse the media by folder, I see all in a single list a no the folders)
- No rescan possible
I have tried to install 1.0.24 and debug, but in the log I can't see if it's true (i have recevied the email of the success of the installation) - CannonFodderAspirantI have also had this problem since day one with my Duo v2, current support call 18148082 is awaiting a response/resolution. Am using dashboard 5.3.3 and readyDLNA 1.0.24.
Even after factory resetting and reloading my video files from a USB backup drive the duplicate file names still show. I have renamed all of the files on a Vista pc to remove any special characters and shorten the file names and still the same thing.
One thing I have noticed though, is that the duplicate files have different dates, one would be the actual date the file was first created (confirmed by browsing the folder through Dashboard) and the duplicate files date would seem be the date the file was transferred onto the NAS. Anyone else see the different dates and think this might point to a cause? - gogherAspiranthi,
i've heard from netgear they're fixing the bug in the next release.
bye
