Downgrade from 6.5.0 to older version

Hi All

Is it possible/safe to downgrade away from 6.5.0? I am not sure about anyone else but ever since i have upgraded to 6.5.0 i have had nothing but issues.

I would like to no if it is possible to downgrade and what version i should downgrade to, maybe 6.4.X?

P.s. I am considering factory rebooting my NAS to see if that helps with the stabilty issues of 6.5.0 - has anyone else tried this and has success?

Any suggestions welcome.

Mark

Netgear recommends against downgrading to 6.4.x (and of course also recommends downgrading 6.4.x to 6.2.x/6.3.x).

They haven't clearly stated the risks, but it is relatively rare for them to make such warnings.

      Hi Maximus360,

Downgrading the firmware would likely cause more issues on your system. It would be better if you can share your issues and see if we can help.

      Kind regards,

I think the 6.5.X version is bad joke :(

Until i updated the system, got a terrible system performance.

readynasd crash twice a day, eat all memory, and the BTRFS kill the system ...

The disk access is very low, from 160MB/sec downgraded to 280kb/sec ...

Sometime the server display show: btrfs_search_forward and i cant access the server

Can't access the samba server (smbd, nmbd are running, but i can't access the shared folders ...)

I think better ifi downgrade the system back to 6.4.x

  • There is little chance your issue is due to 6.5.0/1. If you consider resetting to Factory Default, you should update to 6.5.1 (or 6.5.2 Beta) and Factory Default. If you get the same performance issues, we'll see, but I doubt it. (Especially if you said 6.4.x worked ok, so it's not a matter of BTRFS quotas)
What NAS is it? Lots of snapshots? Defrag/balance ever done?
