Dropbox sync issue
Hi Guys! I'm having issues when syncing to Dropbox. Currently I'm syncing one Share (about 117.7GB) to my Dropbox account. I started the service with no problems, ReadyNAS writes in logs that sync ...

Hi StephenB !
Thanks for your answer!
Yes, I'm currently thinking that defrag is causing that problem.
Now I kicked it out of the schedule, but what about the performance? Should I never use it again if I want to sync my data?
Thanks for the autodefrag info, I checked, and it is off too, but did not realize that there is such an option.

Let's first see if the problem resolves.

StephenB As I wrote before, I made some tests with syncing different, smaller folder (to be precise 225 files in 53 folders, but only ~70 MB) which allowed to test syncing much quicker. Sync time was of course less than one week, so disk schedule did not start to defrag, ReadyNAS finished uploading files, and start to perform live sync (as logs writes). I did another test, same folder as previous one. I made sure, that all filed are on Dropbox, and ReadyNAS is live sincing, I forced degfrag job, and when this job was done, I’ve noticed that ReadyNAS started to push this whole folder to cloud storage again.
Now I’m syncing the whole share (not just one folder) with no scheduled defrag, and I’m sure it will finish uploading files, and start to do live sync – but it will unfortunately take a time.I’m sure that defrag should not affect the sync job.
I wish to find a solution, that allows me to sync and to defrag my data.- StephenBJan 13, 2022Guru - Experienced User

Is there a particular reason to think you that the share contents have a lot of fragmentation?

To be honest I have no idea. Until the problem occurs I was doing defrag every week, so I think it is compacted now. I’m using HDDs so, surely degree of fragmentation will rise in time, and it will affect the performance.
By now in my opinion it is software issue, because when I set the disk schedule to do defrag every week - data should be mostly compacted. During defrag ReadyNAS had to move just several files, because it was doing this job quite often. As a result most of the files are intact – so why after defrag job, ReadyNAS detects file changes in entire Share and stuck in sync loop?
