Duo boot problem

I pressed the power button, NAS switched on.
Got my brief little ssh contact and went to the /var/log/frontview/backup folder.
Did rm *, clearing the folder.
Then did "du -k". Saw all my precious folders passing by. Somewhere in the process I got a fatal connection error, and it freezes again.
Switched it off, turned it back on, same problem.
Any more ideas?
