Duo to Android Streaming (Local and Remote)

Ensure uPnP/DLNA is enabled on your ReadyNAS, then on your phone install Andromote.
Andromote will act as a client to the Mediaserver, and will allow you to play music at least back over your home network.
Downside is that it only searches for mediaservers on the network you are connected to, because DLNA/uPnP isn't really designed for streaming over the internet.
I've installed mpd on my ReadyNAS and will be looking into whether its possible to get it to stream mp3 in the more traditional manner, will post a write-up if successful.
