to be honest, DLNA is more aggravation and annoyance than its worth, in my opinion.
Your best bet for home streaming is to find something that can use windows shares (CIFS/SMB) directly without having to go through an intermediatary like DLNA or other server software.
I use XBMC for all my home media playback.
