Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH
I have the same problem as badbrad1 in the thread http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=71858, but in my case SSH is installed, and so is PHP.
I tried to access the ReadyNAS via Putty with user=admin and my password for the Frontview GUI. The login is apparently accepted, but Putty closes immediately and nothing more happens.
What can I do?

I just wanna say
THANKS !!!!
You made my day, my nas is up and running agian.
Just one more question. Now I have it up and running again, my next project was to set up a tiny webserver on it. That worked out great, but when i restrict to a .php file it only try's to download it. Normaly I whould start a new topic about this, but since I had to rename a file in the PHP add on it looks best to ask the question over here.
Anyone know's what I can do to enable the PHP on my webserver ?
Thanks :-)
Thanks from me also. Had exactly the same problems with my NV+ that Wilco87 had with his duo. How did Netgear not pick up on the PHP problem in their testing? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe PHP add-on is a community add-on and thus not supported by NetGear. Because there has been a fair history of firmware updates leading to Frontview access being lost on systems where PHP is installed it is recommended to have SSH installed just in case you need it to fix problems such as this.
- guyank1AspirantI am having the same problem as mentioned above, but cannot access my Duo by SSH because I don't remember ever enabling it. How can I solve it.
Thanks
Guyan - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWell guyank couldn't get the Duo unit into tech support mode but the good news is that via a Teamviewer session I determined SSH access was possible on this unit and so the issue is now fixed using the trick to rename the relevant apache config files outlined earlier in the thread.
- guyank1AspirantMany thanks to mdgm for his help on that.
- BTS1AspirantIs there a way to install (or reinstall PHP)addon's directly to the NAS from a PC using SSH? I have ReaadyNASXtras PHP update as a .bin on my PC, no frontview access, full share and SSH access tothe NAS. I could go through the renaming and downreving steps, but I am trying to learn something new (and more elegant). Guess I ought to be able to ftp to the NAS somehow ? Then what do I do with the .bin ?
thanks. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSSH into the NAS
copy the add-on into the /tmp directory
Then
# cd /tmp/addons
# mkdir newphp123
# cd newphp123
# dd if=/tmp/phpaddon.bin skip=1 | tar -xv
# sh install.sh
Note the cd command (changes current working directory) is important as the install.sh script will remove the current working directory at the end of the installation. - BTS1Aspirantsweet. much obliged. I muddled my way through SFTP and got it done. I used PHPMyAdmin as a test and it installed, maybe not perfectly yet, but I got this error on the last line of the install script:
"Your apache2 configuration is broken, so we're not restarting it for you."
anything to be worried about? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWell when you reboot you may find apache doesn't start if the configuration really is bad.
- jwilson7AspirantI too am struck: went trough the 4.1.12 update a week or so ago and everything seemed fine. Shares are accessible, backups are running (I can see the external USB drive contents) everything seems to work fine.
Tried to access ReadyNAS with IE, Firefox and Chrome, all state: page cannot be displayed. Tried from Windows 7 and XP machines, all give the same response. RAIDar shows the NAS but I get the same browser message. Tried entering https://192.168.0.10 and https://192.168.0.10/admin which all worked prior to the upgrade.
I'm stuck, can someone help me get access back? I do not run any special desktop applications but if I need to download and install something, please provide a link. I am a business owner performing his own IT. I am not a tinkerer/hacker.
