I just checked and the default access is set to read/write for nfs and cifs. I have no users defined yet, except admin.
I also turned off the apple talk protocol, no apple products at home.
I have CIFS activated yes, and NFS. I tried to reboot. The install is fresh (like 40 mins fresh)
