He's using an iiNet BoB, which per Belkin is a fast ethernet device, not gigabit.
Sealax, you can get gigabit speeds by inserting a small gigabit switch between the BoB and all your wired devices. For instance, a GS605. That assumes your main computer has a gigabit NIC card.
