Dust filter ineffective - solutions?

Hi. I've just had the case off to look for a quieter fan, and see that the case side vents have allowed a load of dust, negating the front 'door' foam filter compeletely. Anyone any advice for improving the dust filtration? Thanks

  • With the NAS unit being a small PC, like any computer it will have multiple openings for air travel. The holes in the chassis bottom direct air through the power supply which has no separate fan for cooling. I think the filter in the front is there to keep the drives from getting covered with dust, but there is likely no safe way to filter all the openings, and you really don't want to block them off.
  • I *did" wonder about reversing the fan mount, and putting an external foam filter assembly, so that the fan blows clean air INTO the NAS
