Dustbin

Good morning,

is it possible to create a dustbin to recover deleted files, as we have in windows for example?

Thank you for your help.

Snapshots have some similar properties, so you might want to look into those first.  With snapshots enabled, you can right-click on a file or folder in Windows, and you will have an option to restore previous versions that are in the snapshots.

It is possible to create a network recycle bin for a share, but it requires the use of ssh.  That does have support implications - if you do this incorrectly and do damage,  Netgear will deny support.  The method is outlined here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Can-Recycle-Bin-be-enabled-for-CIFS-and-OS-6-1-2-on-a-314/m-p/856712/highlight/true#M26776

Note you'd need to add a section to the addons.conf file for each share that needs a recycle bin.

Thank you for your answer. I will try. But it is unfortunate that ready Nas do not offer a simple way to recover a file deleted by error.

By the way, in a first try, I could not  activate snapshots.
